get to know: Elika from I am an aspiring…something

I’m Elika, a journalism student at UAF and all around antsy 20 year old.

I started blogging at “I am an aspiring… something” in high school.  It was during Christmas break of my senior year and I was sitting in the kitchen editing and re-editing college application essays, and finally I gave up on serious writing and started a blog.  Amidst all the indecision of my future, I didn’t have to stretch too far to come up with the title.

Since then I’ve started college in Fairbanks, lived in a tent for several months while working in the Arctic, studied abroad in both Florence, Italy and Amman, Jordan, and come back again.  Meanwhile, blogging all the way.

I have a better grasp on what I’m aspiring to be now (a journalist!), but I think the title of my blog suits me well.  We all have a myriad of aspirations (sword fisherwoman! slam poet! owner of a hip bakery!), and should have a place to reflect on them.  That’s what I do at my blog.
