Hello my fellow Alaskan bloggers. I am so excited to be here and be a part of this wonderful community of “writer entrepreneurs”. I am brand new to the blogging world and so far I am loving every minute of the good, the bad and the beautiful. I hope through Alaska Blog Network we are able to encourage one another and share tips of the trade to help enhance our tiny spot on this world wide web. I’m so happy that Whitney decided to take a leap of faith and spearhead this exciting network for Alaskan bloggers and I’m thrilled to be a guest author today!
I am Melissa, a military wife to my loving and supportive husband Ryan and a new stay-at-home mom to our precious baby girl McKenzie. I am originally from Houston, Texas but still like to call my birth state Louisiana, my true home! It’s safe to say I am a southern girl at heart and moving to Alaska was a big adjustment for me. It took some getting used to, however I have grown to absolutely love the community here.
Though I desperately miss my family back in the lower (lower)48, Alaska will always hold a special place in my heart no matter where the military decides to sends us. Ryan and I bought our first home, adopted our first puppy and welcomed our first child here and it will definitely be an emotional day when the time comes to move away from our little Alaskan bubble.
After having McKenzie, our life went from being a “Me and Ryan world” to being consumed by the daily demands of our precious little newborn. It took a lot of getting used to, however I wouldn’t change it for the world. After the haze of the newborn stage wore off, little by little, I found time and excitement in browsing inspirations for McKenzie’s future milestone celebrations! Searching the web on all things baby related was and still is my guilty pleasure.
Before Kenzie was born, it came time to re-arrange our guest bedroom to somehow accommodate a nursery. I felt so frustrated and lost with no clue on how or where to start! After a few hours of web browsing, I luckily found amazing baby, mommy and DIY blogs that inspired me (a non creative person) to create a beautiful dual purpose retreat for both my daughter and guests that was later featured on “Onto Baby” & “Grey Likes Baby“. From then on, every special occasion or upcoming photo session started with an internet search for inspiration.
I enjoyed it so much that my mom suggested I create a blog to share all of my daily findings with others that may not have the time or just need a little help creating a bright and beautiful world for their baby. Shortly after my mom’s suggestion, Fawn Over Baby was born. I already had so many wonderful inspirations saved to my “McKenzie Inspiration file” on our computer just waiting for me to share and I finally had an outlet to do so. I also incorporated a DIY section that I am slowly filling up with projects that have inspired me to attempt (key word “attempt”). From nursery design to baby’s first birthday party, Fawn Over Baby has become my weekly dose of baby eye candy and I hope for our readers as well.
Please feel free to stop by Fawn anytime! I hope that you are inspired by my weekly baby related internet finds as much as I am!
So happy to be a part of Alaska Blog Network!
Nice to “meet” you! We’re loving Alaska as well! 🙂
