get to know: Maya from Alaska From Scratch

I’m Maya Evoy, the face behind Alaska from Scratch, a popular food blog based right here on the Kenai Peninsula. In early 2011, our family of five transplanted from California to Alaska. We sold almost everything we had and, with two suitcases per person, flew to our new home here on the Peninsula. So far, it’s been the adventure of a lifetime as we’ve started our life over from scratch.

My site offers recipes that are homemade, yet are simple and approachable for busy home cooks -made with real, wholesome food, and often featuring local Alaska ingredients. I provide kitchen tips and step by step photo tutorials to help make cooking from scratch less intimidating and more accessible for my readers. 

I’m a pastor’s wife and mother of three – two energetic boys and a magnetic little girl. I love getting in the kitchen with my kids and creating food memories with my family. In addition to food blogging, I am also an associate pastor, serving alongside my husband at our amazing church.
